Property Valuation Services Corporation (PVSC) is responsible for assessing all property in Nova Scotia. Every property is reassessed on an annual basis, and for income producing properties the reassessment process includes collecting and analyzing income and expenses associated with the property. Income and expense information helps PVSC to determine the value of both your property and properties of a similar type.

Owners of income producing properties may receive a request for this income and expense information from PVSC via Canada Post signature service delivery. Pursuant to Section 21 of the Assessment Act, you are required to return this information within 30 days of receipt of the request. Pursuant to Section 23, failure to do so will result in the loss of your right to appeal your property assessment. Submitting a response that does not contain the requested information may also result in the loss of your right of appeal.

If you did not receive an income and expense request in the mail and believe you should be required to provide this information, please contact PVSC at 1-800-380-7775.
